How it began
Launched in 2026, The Future Fund is the new kid on the block with a bold vision and a heart full of purpose.

Hello from Nicola, Jason, and Rob – three ordinary South Africans with an extraordinary love for this beautiful country. We may not have all the answers, but we share one conviction: that change begins when everyday people choose to act with heart.
The Future Fund was born out of that belief. We’re powered not by corporations or big campaigns, but by people – South Africans living all over the world who refuse to turn away from the challenges back home and instead choose to give back. Together, we are proving that small, consistent acts of generosity can transform lives in powerful ways.
From our base in Cape Town, we take a fresh, human-centred approach to giving:
- Transparent: every donation is tracked and reported, so supporters see exactly where their contributions go.
- Personal: you’re never just giving to a cause – you’re supporting real children, real schools, and real communities.
- Community-centred: food is sourced from local farmers, meals are served in township schools, and healthcare is delivered in partnership with local providers.
Our mission is simple yet urgent: to ensure every child in South Africa has a strong foundation from which to grow and a real chance to succeed.
Meet the team

Nicola Bergsteedt
Director
Professionally curious and permanently surrounded by news, ideas, and half-finished notebooks. Nicola believes good stories change how people see the world. When she’s not thinking about the future, she’s running or negotiating life with a very energetic one-year-old. Her survival fuel is an oat flat white.
Communications strategist & futures thinker

Rob Burger
Director
Part systems thinker, part trail explorer. Rob enjoys understanding how things work, whether that’s technology or people. Raised in a family of teachers, curiosity is basically genetic. You’ll usually find him outdoors somewhere or drinking a very strong coffee while thinking about the next big question.
Information Security Officer

Jason Dionysopoulos
Director
Powered by double espressos and spreadsheets that actually make sense. Jason enjoys turning numbers into stories about where businesses are going next. When he’s not deep in data, he’s making music or running trails somewhere with a good view. South Africa wins him over every day with its people and possibility.

Who We Partner With
Partnerships that turn small donations into real impact
The Future Fund works with trusted organisations that have deep experience serving communities across South Africa. By partnering with experts in nutrition, vision care, and community support, we ensure that every coffee-sized donation reaches the people and schools who need it most.
Together, these partnerships allow us to deliver programmes that strengthen education, improve wellbeing, and give children the foundation they need to succeed.
Peninsula School Feeding Association (PSFA)

The Peninsula School Feeding Association provides daily nutritious meals to learners in under-resourced schools across the Western Cape. By addressing hunger at school level, PSFA helps children stay healthy, focused, and ready to learn – creating stronger foundations for educational success.
EyeCare4Kids Africa

EyeCare4Kids Africa is a non-profit organisation that provides underprivileged children with sight screening, optometric testing, and, where appropriate, glasses. By identifying and correcting vision problems early, the organisation helps learners see clearly in the classroom and participate fully in their education.
The Mina Foundation

The Mina Foundation supports vulnerable communities by expanding access to education, nutrition, and essential social services. Through community-led initiatives, the Foundation helps create opportunities that strengthen dignity, stability, and long-term impact.
A shared mission
Together with our partners, we ensure that small donations create meaningful and lasting change in the lives of children and communities across South Africa.
